We were slow to warm yesterday due to the cloud coverage not eroding away as quickly as anticipated, however, today shouldn't be a problem. As the ridge that is situated over Eastern Texas continues to expand into our area, we'll continue our hot streak into the weekend.
With temperatures making it into the lower 90s today and dewpoints sitting near 70 degrees, it will feel more like it's in the upper 90s. In fact, the heat index into the weekend will feel like it's in the upper 90s, so it's always important to make sure you stay very hydrated during this stretch of toasty weather.
Tomorrow some storms are possible as an upper level disturbance moves over the region. These storms could be on the strong side with damaging winds and hail. The best chance for any strong storms looks to be along and north of Highway 16.
Relief is on the way temperature wise as next week arrives. The ridge that is expanding over our area will begin to weaken slightly, as a trough with an embedded cold front moves through the area. The cold front will aide in some lift and with plenty of moisture and heat available showers and storms shouldn't have any problem firing. With cloudy conditions and rain in the forecast for next week, temperatures will cool down into the upper 80s.
