State Games of Mississippi: Archery
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - With the sun shining bright and the winds at a minimum, this weekend was an excellent time for archery at the state games. Archers from around the state of Mississippi and a couple from Alabama came out to Camp Binachi to test their skills in field and 3-D archery.
There were 45 competitors competing in 14 different divisions. Those divisions ranged from eight and up all the way to the senior division.
In field archery the athletes got to shoot 20 arrows at three targets 40, 50, and 60 feet apart. In 3-d archery, the athletes got one shot at 20 different 3-D target animals.
Ashion Wilson, competing in the field archery was just happy to get out and shoot after not being able to compete because of the pandemic.
“I have been inside for so long I really needed to practice,” said Wilson. “This was a good day to practice and just come out and enjoy shooting.”
State Games of Mississippi keeps on rolling next weekend with 4-person volleyball, fastpitch softball, and sporting clays.
