MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The board of trustees of the Meridian Public School District held a meeting Monday afternoon on the Meridian High School campus.

The board discussed a number of topics including the proposed budget for the upcoming school year, recommendations to approve financial reports along with the hiring and release of some temporary and full-time employees.

The MPSD board also approved the use of the Canvas Learning Management Platform that supports online learning and teaching.

“It’s kind of an interface with them so they can interact with their instructors, said Matt Davis, public relations director for MPSD. “Even if they’re going to a traditional class, the teacher might post lecture notes or videos things like that that students can access off campus to still help them with class.”

The school system also plans on making an announcement later this week concerning registration for the upcoming school year.
