Lauderdale County School District offices reopen
LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - For the first time since the pandemic shutdown schools over spring break, Lauderdale County School District offices are now open.
Faculty and staff have been working at home since March. District officials are working on a solid plan for the new year, meanwhile, new dividers and hand sanitizer stations have been setup at all of its facilities, along with temperature checks. Career and Technical Education Director Dr. DeShannon Davis says they are happy to work together again and look forward to students returning in August.
“Our schools have gone above and beyond. They’re doing everything from disinfecting any and everything at our schools. They have the hand sanitizer as well. We are hiring a company to come in and sanitize at night,” Davis says.
Davis says a new plan for the year will be announced in the middle of July.
We can’t wait to see them and get back in that learning environment where we can see them grow as students,' Davis explains. “That’s what we’re working towards. We don’t want to do the virtual online learning, but we will if we have to for the safety of others. We really cannot wait until we get back.”
