Rush Health Systems has teamed up with PHI Air Medical to offer new air medical transport services to the region. During the helicopter launch event earlier tonight, they announced they are now adding a new EC-135 rotary wing aircraft that be will located here in Meridian. The aircraft, that offers emergency flight services for a 150-mile range, will be able to travel through East Mississippi and West Alabama, including Rush’s network of seven hospitals. The helicopter will have specially trained flight nurses, paramedics, other clinical staff, as well as maintenance personnel. A manager from PHI Air Medical said this will greatly benefit patients overall.

“You have a highly trained clinical critical care team with the guidance of the Rush Medical staff. Our Medical Director of Physicians are employed at Rush as well. So, we’re benefitting from their experience and knowledge to make sure our staff are doing the best clinical quality,” said Sam Marshall. There are four pilots, two mechanics, and around twelve clinical staff in total. Todd Tilghman also sang at the event.
