Scattered showers and storms possible this afternoon
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Happy Tuesday! We look to see mostly cloudy skies on our Tuesday with a chance of scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon. Highs today will be in the low-90s, with heat index values as high as 100. Any showers and storms will begin to taper off after sunset and we look to see partly cloudy skies overnight with a passing shower possible. Morning lows by Wednesday will be in the mid-70s.
Scattered showers and storms will be possible once again on Wednesday as heat index values top out around 101 in the afternoon. Our best chance of rain will be on Thursday as a disturbance passes by our area. An isolated strong to severe storm will be possible Thursday afternoon, with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail as the two threats. Before storms roll through, heat index values on Thursday may climb as high as 105. Make sure to stay hydrated if you have any outdoor activities planned. Scattered showers and storms will be possible Friday thanks to daytime heating.
Our Independence Day will feature a chance of afternoon scattered showers and storms. These storms will develop thanks to daytime heating and as such will fizzle out after the sun sets. Not every one is going to see rain on the Fourth of July, but there will be some showers and storms still around. High temperatures will stay in the low-90s through the weekend and into our day on Monday. We’ll continue to see a chance of scattered showers and storms associated with daytime heating on Sunday and Monday.
