MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The coronavirus pandemic has affected every aspect of daily life, especially schools. As districts prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, the Meridian Public School District has announced its plan: Returning, Re-imagining, Revamping for the 2020-2021 School Year.

While this plan has a range of specifications, MPSD Superintendent Dr. Amy Carter said, these rules are liable to change within the first 30 days of the school year. School will begin on August 10th to give teachers more time to prepare their classrooms.

All faculty and students will be required to wear face masks. Students will be introduced to a Hybrid learning model, which combines face-to-face and online instruction into one learning experience for students.

Dr. Carter said the administration is taking every precaution possible and is making sure all CDC guidelines are met.

“We want them to know that safety of their children is the most important concern to us right now,” said Carter. “We are working diligently to provide options for them, rather they feel comfortable with their children learning in a traditional setting in school classrooms or learning virtually. We want that experience to be a quality experience.”
