Meridian Regional Airport welcomes United Airlines
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Meridian Regional Airport welcomed its first United Airlines flight this morning.
With United Airlines, the airport will now offer two daily round-trip flights from Meridian to Houston. Now with regional partner Sky West, travelers can enjoy the same 50-passenger plane that was previously flown through American Airlines.
“We have the same goal. It’s a new airline but the same goal and that’s to provide the best customer service possible,” said United General Manager Tiara Parker.
Meridian Airport Authority President Tom Williams says employees have been training for the last month to prepare for the big day.
“We’ve been through a lot getting to this day. Awfully proud of the airport employees,” said Williams. “The crew has been in training for the entire month of June to learn the new system.”
Travelers have access to more than 400 flights from the Houston hub to airports around the world.
