Butler, AL. (WTOK) - Another protest has been planned for Sunday but not in Meridian. In Choctaw County, a peace rally will be marching around the county’s courthouse.

A group of protesters will gather at the Choctaw County Courthouse Sunday at 5 pm. Marchers will have signs and will be calling for peace and justice in the death of George Floyd who died in police custody in Minneapolis. Prayers will be offered by community pastors and testimonials will be given from citizens. Choctaw County held its first peace rally back on June 5th.

“Since the protest back in June went well, we are trying to unify both black and white communities. This is to set the stage for the nation. It is to show that blacks and whites can come together,” said lead organizer Avary Bonner.

The courthouse will be blocked off by police for safety. Again, the march will begin at 5 pm and end at 7 pm.
