MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Monday set the trend for the week with showers and thunderstorms, and Tuesday will follow.

The Next 24 Hours

Showers and thunderstorms will fade this evening, and we will cool into the upper 70s through 10 PM. Heavy storms can cause localized flash flooding and lightning. The lightning threat alone is enough to disrupt your evening jog or walk. Overnight will be cloudy with a slight chance for a stray shower. The low temperature will be near 72 degrees. Tuesday will start mostly cloudy. Showers will begin forming as early as noon. Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely after noon. Some storms can be heavy, and flash flooding is possible. High temperatures will be near 88 degrees.

Looking Ahead

Showers and thunderstorms will gradually grow fewer day-by-day. Since showers and storms will be less widespread, odds will decrease that you will get rained on. However, showers and storms are still possible through around next Monday or Tuesday. Longer-range data suggests a drying period after early next week.
