Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast set for Friday morning
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Reconciliation week continues Friday morning with a special prayer breakfast.
Mission Mississippi Meridian sponsors the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast every year. Public officials and the citizens will come together to pray for our leaders. A panel discussion will follow the prayer.
“Stacey Miller who started this, her dad was one of the victims of the Lockheed shooting. Rev. Miller was a reconciler himself. He say this as an important issue himself. We feel like we are following his legacy by doing this,” Northcrest Baptist Church Executive Pastor Wade Phillips says.
He says they will discuss topics of racial unrest and will be an opportunity to shine light on what the gospel says about the issue.
“Those issues are always going to with us. As Christians, we know that sin is always with us and this is a sin issue as far as we are concerned. As long as we have sin we are going to have this issue and we are going to have to address it, so we are going to continue to do that,” Phillips says.
The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will start at 6:45 Friday morning on the third floor of Meridian City Hall. Everyone who attends will need to wear a mask.
