Heat index lowers for Monday
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Happy Monday! Temperatures are in the low-to-mid-70s to start our Monday under mostly clear skies. Patchy dense fog is possible in portions of West Alabama this morning, so be sure to leave some extra time to get to your destination and remember to use your low beam headlights when driving through fog. Any dense fog should begin clearing by 9 a.m. We look to see mostly sunny skies on Monday with highs in the low-90s. We’ll get a small break from the oppressive humidity for today, but heat index values will still climb to around 100 degrees. Isolated storms will be possible, mainly south of I-20. We’ll see mostly clear skies tonight with Tuesday morning lows in the low-70s.
Dew points will be on the rise as we head into our day on Tuesday which means those heat index values will also be on the rise. Feels-like temperatures will climb up to 105 Tuesday afternoon under mostly sunny skies. There will once again be a chance of isolated showers and storms Tuesday afternoon, but most of us will remain dry. Storm chances will increase slightly on Wednesday, but Wednesday will be the warmest day of the next seven. Heat index values will climb up to 108 on Wednesday afternoon as air temperatures climb into the upper-90s. Scattered shower and storm chances will continue into our Thursday as highs drop slightly into the mid-90s. Heat index values Thursday afternoon will climb between 100 and 105.
Friday will feature scattered showers and storms with highs in the mid-90s and heat index values up to 105. Rain chances will decrease heading into Saturday and Sunday, but isolated showers and storms will still be possible each afternoon. If you’re not seeing any storms, you will be under partly cloudy skies. Highs on Saturday will be in the mid-90s and highs on Sunday will be in the upper-90s. Heat index values will top out around 105 Saturday and around 107 by Sunday. Morning lows will stay in the mid-70s over the weekend.
