MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -

This week, you’ll be able to help students get prepared for the upcoming school year with the United Way of East Mississippi’s Stuff the Bus Campaign.

The campaign collects donated school supplies and uniforms for children to make sure no student comes to school unprepared. There won’t be as many volunteers this year due to COVID19 and social distancing will be in place and the supplies will be disinfected before they go to area kids.

The campaign has helped over 10-thousand children in the past 9 years. “For Stuff the Bus, we’ll be accepted almost anything,” said United Way of East Mississippi summer intern Kayla Powe, a soon-to-be junior at Mississippi State University in Starkville.

“Any school supplies that are necessary. Kleenex, Germ Ex, if you can find those things. Uniforms, pencils, notebooks, paper. We’ll accept almost anything. If you don’t want to go out and shop, you can come cut a check or give us some cash. We also accept monetary donations.”

Stuff the bus will be at Pilgrims Foodliner in DeKalb Wednesday and in Meridian Thursday at Raisin’ Cane’s and Bonita Lakes Mall before moving to The Depot in Philadelphia next Tuesday.
