Isolated storms possible Friday
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Happy Friday! We look to see partly cloudy skies on our Friday with a chance of isolated showers and storms in the afternoon. Storms will contain locally heavy rainfall, and some could contain gusty winds. Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s on our Friday afternoon with heat index values around 100. Scattered showers will continue to be possible overnight, with thunder possible at times. Temperatures will drop into the mid-70s by Saturday morning.
Saturday will have the best chance of seeing rain over the next seven days. Scattered showers and storms will be possible, not only in the afternoon, but possibly during the morning as well. High temperatures on our Saturday will be in the low-90s. Storm chances will decrease again heading into Sunday as high temperatures stay in the low-90s.
Hurricane Isaias will be well to the east of our area, so we won’t see any direct impacts from the storm. Isaias will influence our weather as we head into the next week. The storm will force cooler and drier air into our area from the north. Only a few showers and storms will be possible during the Monday through Thursday time frame with highs in the upper-80s to low-90s. The humidity will also be on the lower side for this time of year. Morning lows may even drop into the 60s at times during the next work week.
