Here’s a look at the tropics
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Hurricane Iota made landfall near Haulover, Nicaragua last night with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. The storm weakened quickly after making landfall and it is expected to drift in El Salvador as a post-tropical depression by tomorrow morning.
A tropical wave in the southern Caribbean Sea has a 30% chance of development into a tropical cyclone over the next 5 days. This disturbance poses no threat to the United States, but it does look to bring heavy rain to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. Even if the system develops, it is not likely to get too strong because it is not expected to be over water for that long.
