Lake softball players sign letters of intent

LAKE, Miss. (WTOK) - On Friday, Lake High School’s Laurel Breland and Taylor Duncan signed National Letters of Intent to continue playing softball at the college level.

Breland, who was All-District and All-State in softball, signed to play next season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. During the 2019 slow pitch softball season, Breland had a .588 batting average to go along with 10 doubles, seven triples and five home runs.

Duncan, who was named to the Clarion Ledger’s 2019 All-State Slow Pitch Softball Team, will continue her softball career at Southeastern Louisiana University. Breland had a .583 batting average, 19 doubles and 14 home runs and made All-District and All-State during the 2019 slow pitch season.

Both girls were crowned 2019 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Champions for slow pitch softball and named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) 1A-3A South All-Star Team for fast pitch softball in 2020.
