Showers and storms tonight could bring locally damaging wind gusts
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Showers are likely tonight, and one or two stronger storms could be mixed in.
Showers & Storms Tonight
The overall threat of severe weather is quite low, but if an isolated stronger storm develops, it can increase the threat of damaging winds in localized cases through about 10 PM. Showers can linger through about 1-2 AM, then we’ll dry out in time for the morning drive.
We’ll be cooler on the way out the door Tuesday morning, too. Some of us may want a jacket for the trip to work or school. We can be as cool as lower 50s in our northern areas or as warm as 60 in our southern areas with mid-50s around Meridian. We’ll catch a glimpse of the sun in the morning, but a couple of stray showers will become possible starting around noon amid increasing clouds. The high temperature will be as high as 74 degrees.
Rain will increase Tuesday night and fall through Wednesday morning, especially south of I-20. Northern areas can stay dry. Most of Wednesday will be dry beneath clouds after the morning rain ends. Thursday and Friday will be colder with freezing temperatures both mornings and just 50s for highs on both afternoons.
The Weekend Ahead
Early signs are Saturday will be the better half of the coming weekend as rain looks to pick up again on Sunday.
