MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -Tyeasha “Ty” Bell Lindsey won the Ward 5 primary runoff election.

Lindsey beat Allan “Al” Willis in a landslide victory. She pulled in 65% of the vote.

“I am so thrilled. I feel grateful. I feel honored.” Lindsey said, “I feel blessed that I am able to go on to the next step and be a representative for Ward 5.”

Lindsey says the biggest concern she had heard from people is the quality of life.

Moving into the general election, Lindsey says her focus is the pavement of roads, more jobs, and better signage in the community. She says it is time for the people of Ward 5 to know their voices matter.

“Everybody wants these different things that are just not big. It is just things that will make their life here living in Meridian enjoyable. And I want to bring all of that to the council and to the mayor’s office.” Lindsey said. “So, we can get these issues addressed.”

Lindsey will face Republican challenger Chad Acton in the June 8th general election.
