MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -‘A White Man Walks Into A Barbershop’ will have its premiere showing at the Temple Theatre Saturday, June 12th.

The documentary takes a look at race relations around America and Meridian is heavily featured throughout the film. The premiere starts at 7 p.m. with a concert by local rapper James Da Barber and costs $15.00.

We talked to filmmaker Kyle Schickner about why he wanted to premiere the film in Meridian.

“I said let’s just go in and maybe we can shoot ten minutes. What started as a lunch break ended up being three days. We stayed here for three days and the people in this town were unbelievably welcoming and giving with their time and their thoughts. And it was just incredible,” said Schickner.

A portion of the proceeds from the premiere will go to help the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi.
