CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - Eddie Ivy, director of Clarke County Emergency Management Agency, submitted his notice for retirement to the Clarke County Board of Supervisors Monday.

Ivy has worked in emergency management for the last 32 years.

He said he plans to spend more time with his family and that he will miss the people he worked with and trained throughout the years.

“I hope I’ve been able to better prepare the responders for the roles that they’re in and the things they may see so they’re safer. That way, they come home to their families at night. That’s a big thing to me-- making sure the responders get the education and training they need to respond to the needs of the citizens.”

Clarke County Board of Supervisors President Paul Mosley told Newscenter 11 Ivy will be greatly missed.

Mosely said they are now taking applications for the director position.

If you’re interested in applying, stop by the Clarke County Courthouse.

Ivy’s last day will be June 30.
