Magnolia Middle School hosts Shop Talk
Helping young men connect to the community
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -Magnolia Middle School hosted a “shop talk” event for the young men that are in the school.
The school hosts many events for the young men and they always look to make them interactive for them.
Men that are important members of the community gave life advice while the children got haircuts.
When asked about the significance of making the talk a barbershop theme Magnolia Middle School principal Sherrod Miller said, “Just knowing that in our community most people have always gone to the barbershop and they feel comfortable in the barbershop. Men and boys have great conversations in the barbershop. Older men give advice to the younger male students in the barbershop. A barbershop is a place of comfort and almost a place of therapy.”
Magnolia plans to have more events similar to shop talk.
