MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The Optimist club met to give out checks to cans for kids for their Christmas program, Salvation Army and the Debs for the Angel Tree.

They also gave a check to the meridian police department for their “Shop with a Cop” Christmas program.

The President of the Debs, Anna Kate Shows, was excited to see the money used for something so positive within the community. “It’s so great to be able to give this Christmas season and we’ve been doing this for almost like 15 years now so it’s great to just have an annual thing that we do every year. So, this year we have three angel tree recipients and 15 girls for each group so it’s so much fun to go out with like our sisters and our club and just buy gifts for those in need.”

Everyone involved is excited about being able to help children have a more memorable Christmas.
