West Lauderdale run rules their way to first 4A fast pitch state championship
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - West Lauderdale run ruled North Pike 11-0 to clinch their first 4A fast-pitch state championship title.
Sophomore pitcher, Mabry Eason, was named the game MVP. Eason threw a no hitter in the win and also hit a three run home run to get the offense started for the Lady Knights. She went on to rack up 2 hits and 3 RBI’s in the game as well.
Eason said, “It means a lot. Especially coming in here middle of the season and they’ve supported me a lot.”
The bats just continued to come alive as West Lauderdale would go on to run rule North Pike 11-0 and clinch the 2023 4A softball state championship title.
“You know when I took the job I knew we had a chance,” said head coach Jake Loper who is in his first season leading the Knights. “We bought in and played together. They definitely deserve this.”
