Newton Police: Suspect in custody for Thursday morning shooting

NEWTON, Miss. (WTOK) - Update: A suspect is in custody in connection with a shooting in Newton Thursday morning. Capt. Makenzie Patrick identified him as Johnnie L. Walker. The charge against Walker is aggravated assault.

The Newton Police Department was called to the scene of a shooting in the 600 block of West Church Street Thursday morning.
According to NPD Capt. Makenzie Patrick, one person was struck by gunfire. No one was in custody as of late Thursday afternoon.
