Two Saint Stanislaus students achieve perfect ACT scores
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) - Across the bay at Saint Stanislaus, not one but two students excelled at the ACT exam— making a perfect score of 36.
With Saint Stanislaus' small senior class, having two students achieve this score was shocking, but it all came from hard work.
That’s what helped Saint Stanislaus senior Gibson Williams achieve a perfect composite score.
“I took a couple of practice tests. I didn’t do any practice courses because I started at a 35 and felt like I could get to it myself with not that much time,” Williams said. “I got to take the ACT a couple more times, do some practice tests and a little bit of my own work.”
Saint Stanislaus senior Satvik Kompella says he’s even more proud of his 36 super score after improving his English and reading scores.
“In my case, math really was never a difficulty just because whenever I first started taking math, science, STEM was never a problem,” Kompella said. “It was English... I started off with 27s on English and reading, so it’s been a struggle but I think I’ve done pretty good.”
Last year, more than one million high school students took the ACT test, and very few achieved a perfect score.
These scores show that these two students are considered to be in an elite group of top performers.
“While it wasn’t expected, they’ve worked very hard, they’ve taken responsibility for their own learning and that, coupled with the classes that they’ve taken, has led them to this success,” said Saint Stanislaus principal Nancy Artigues.
With the success of Williams and Kompella, you can say the bar is now set high for ACT scores at Saint Stanislaus.
Kompella plans to major in biomedical engineering and Williams wants to pursue either finance or accounting. However, both are keeping their options open to colleges and have not yet made that decision.
