Temple Theatre Hosts International Visitors
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -
The Temple Theatre in Meridian is the state’s largest and most opulent cinema. It opened back in 1923 and has played host to some of the greatest names in entertainment over the years.
However, you might not know that the Temple attracts a lot of visitors from around the United States and even internationally to view the historic building.
Earlier this week, a family from Switzerland, who are involved in amateur theatre there, paid a visit to the Queen City and the Temple Theatre.
“I just love arts generally and just viewing these,” said Matthew Billingham. “It’s actually more for personal pleasure and interest. We can always take things back and I can see how things are set up. I can use that in future productions that we might put on ourselves.”
“I’m very excited to be able to view some of the theatres here because we don’t have theatres like this one back at home,” said Chais Billingham. “For my untrained European eye, this theatre is incredibly unique. I’ve seen nothing like this before.”
The next major event scheduled at the Temple is the 20th Anniversary show of the Sucarnooche Review on August 15th at 7:00 pm.
