JD Vance and Erika Kirk attend Turning Point USA event in Oxford

OXFORD, Miss. (WTOK) - Vice President JD Vance and Erika Kirk are here in Oxford tonight carrying on the mission of Turning Point USA.

JD Vance opened up the event with a speech.

“So let me say a few words of thank you first to my dear friend and the widow of my dear friend, Charlie Kirk, Erika, you have been such an amazing inspiration to the entire country. How much do we love Erika Kirk?” asked Vance.

What was previously called the American Comeback Tour, headlined by Charlie Kirk, is now being called the Turning Point Tour.

This is the second stop of the tour since Charlie Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University on September 10th.

Ole Miss is the only campus that will have an appearance from Kirk or Vance.

“So maybe in that sense, that historical sense of trying to unite our country that hasn’t been united in a long time, so maybe this could be a turning point in that this is a uniting sense, bringing people together,” said Ole Miss student DJ Stobbe.

The next stop on the tour will be on November 5th at Auburn University.
