Trial set to begin more than a decade after killing of international ULM student

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Lawyers for the man accused of killing a University of Louisiana Monroe student more than a decade ago will be in court soon.

Quenton Tellis is accused of killing Ming-Chen Hsiao, an international student at ULM, in 2015. More than 10 years later, and Tellis will face trial.

The preliminary hearing is set for March 16 at 1:30. The trial will start at 9 a.m. on March 17.

According to prosecutors, Tellis is accused of stabbing Hsiao sometime around July 29, 2016. Tellis was arrested on one count of second-degree murder in 2019.

Previously, Tellis pled guilty to using Hsiao’s cards. He was sentenced to 10 years of hard labor.
