Meridian High School hosts signing day for seniors
The graduating class of 2026 signed to enter the workforce, military branch, or college

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -With nearly 2 and a half weeks left in the 2025-2026 school year, graduating seniors at Meridian High are signing to take their academic or career goals to the next level.
Senior signing day was held on the campus, with seniors signing to enter the military, the Marines, the Navy, the Army, the community or four-year college, or the workforce. This was an exciting day for many, being able to share this moment with their friends and families.
According to the school guidance counselors, over 160 students signed. One student who signed with the University of Texas and plans to major in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy of Law says that it was great to celebrate this moment, and also talks about why she chose to sign with her university.
“It’s just a super exciting moment celebrating the success of my classmates, seeing where we are all going in the future, and I am just so proud of everyone.”
Aaron Walker, who signed with Alabama State, talks more about why he chose to attend ASU.
“For a while, I didn’t know what college I wanted to go to. There are a lot of prospects that I was thinking about, but that really caught my attention. But then I joined the theater here in high school, and my instructor, Randy Wayne, was like, have you thought about theater at Alabama State? And I was like, well, I don’t know. So, he took us over there. We went and saw Connection Day, and we saw a play there. And I was really enjoying the atmosphere there, and I really loved what I saw the theater department putting on. So, I said, why shouldn’t I join it?”
Meridian High is set to host its graduation on Friday, May 22nd, at Ray Stadium. The ceremony will begin at 6 pm.
