Northeast Lauderdale Hosts New Head Football Coach David Frey
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The football season for our area teams is rapidly approaching as we are a little over a week out from July, and with that, coaching changes are all around, including just down the road at Northeast Lauderdale.
During last Thursday’s school board meeting, David Frey was voted on to be the new leader of the Trojans football team, as he will be the new head coach for the program.
Frey joins the Trojans after previous stints at Scott Central and Philadelphia.
A native of Louisville, Coach Frey brings several years of experience as a head football coach, jumping from 2A to 4A with the Trojans.
“I think the kids are going to buy into what we’re doing, and we expect them to do right and win some games more than what they have been,” said Frey. “I think Coach Gandy’s done a great job before I got here to set the tone for us, and I just got to keep going forward with it. You just got to instill winning to the kids, and it takes time, but discipline’s the first step, and Coach Gandy has already done that for us, and the staff that’s here now, so we just got to keep going with what his plan already was.”
Coach Frey will participate in the LCSD 7-on-7 happening tomorrow to get his new team prepped for Week 1 in August.
