WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump is set to return to Texas on Tuesday to rally GOP voters in Lubbock and Corpus Christi.

The rallies come one week before Election Day and are being held to encourage Republican voters to get out to the polls.

Recent polls have shown that some Texas midterm matchups are particularly competitive, with much attention focused on the U.S. Senate race between State Rep. James Talarico (D) and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R). Several political analyses currently rate the Senate race as a toss-up.

Joshua Blank, research director of the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin, said the impact of Trump’s visits to the state remain unclear.

“The president’s focus on Texas has been a big topic of discussion, in particular, whether or not it helps or hurts Republican candidates in tight races. Ultimately, the president has decided that his efforts in Texas will be helpful,” Blank said.

Trump is scheduled to speak at 2 p.m. Central time in Corpus Christi and at 6 p.m. Central time in Lubbock.
