Stephen Bowers is a name and face you probably recognize. He has been here at WTOK before. He spent nearly five years in Meridian before leaving for the mountains of Colorado in early 2013. After more than six years away, he has returned to East Mississippi.
Over twelve years, Stephen has worked in Colorado Springs, Huntsville, and Meridian. He started his broadcast career working at WCTV, WTOK's sister station in Tallahassee. Stephen studied meteorology at Florida State University and also holds a degree in Liberal Arts from Pensacola State College. He has won multiple awards from the Associated Press for both weather and news.
Stephen was on the air for nearly nine hours in Meridian on April 27, 2011 covering the deadly, historic tornado outbreak that impacted much of the Deep South. In addition to multiple tornado outbreaks, he has also covered hurricanes, flooding, snow storms, ice storms, derechos, hail storms, and wildfires.
Stephen is proud of the work he did in Meridian before and is excited to be back. He hopes to bring what he has learned in his time away to help better inform the people of East Mississippi and West Alabama when dangerous weather threatens.
