CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK)- The Boys and Girls Club hosted a big outdoors event Saturday.
Hundreds of families gathered in Highland Park this afternoon for the 10th Annual "Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play". It's an event that is designed to encourage children and parents to turn off the television and head outdoors to play. Thousands of people came out to fellowship and to have fun with all the activities including face painting, bounce houses, water slides and lots more.
"We like to bring a positive light and a shining like on this Highland Park. We want to show that everybody can come together and have a great time without any violence, fighting, or shooting. People come out to fellow and have a good time," says Boys and Girls Club director of operation Jermaine Harris.
Organizers with the event say there is an underlying cause for the day of play, that being families and kids need to be more active.
