MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The 18th annual Hope Village for Children Run for Hope is taking place at Bonita Lakes this Saturday. The race is part of a fundraising effort by the Hope Village Guild, with money going to extra activities for the kids at Hope Village.

“The children that are there are cared for and nourished and this just adds a little bit extra of what the Guild can do for them,” says Kim Waters, a member of the Hope Village Guild. “We love to see them participate in extra-curricular activities.”

The run will be fun for all ages.

“There’s four different events,” Waters says. “There’s a 10k trail run, a 5k run, a 2-mile walk, and a 1 mile fun run, so that could cover everybody!”

If you’re still thinking about signing up, there is still time to register.

“You can still register,” says Waters. “You can go to Anderson Fitness Center and register or you can go online to southernracetiming.com and register, or you can register the day at the race but it is a little more expensive the day of the race. People should sign up to have fun, #1, it’s a great thing to do, it’s a beautiful time of the year, and hopefully the rain will be out.”

The event begins at 8 a.m.
