MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - 22nd Avenue in Meridian is expected to become more pedestrian and bicycle friendly after an enhancement project.
Public Works director Hugh Smith says the project will make it easier for people to navigate to and from the various attractions downtown like The Max and the upcoming children's museum.
"This is an overall opportunity to improve the economic value of that area as well as the aesthetics," Smith said. "These types of projects are designed to spur even more interest in that corridor."
The project will be funded through grants including one from MDOT totaling around $1.2 million.
Smith said the planning deadline for the project is June 2020.
