Winn-Dixie evacuated after bomb threat call, one in custody

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian police say a person called and reported a bomb inside of the Winn-Dixie on Old Hwy 45.

One person is in custody after emergency personnel responded to the report of a bomb threat at a local grocery store late Sunday afternoon.

26-year-old Lakeith J. Jones was arrested and charged with false reporting of explosives and has a $25,000 bond.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. at the Old Highway 45 Winn-Dixie, next to the Coca-Cola plant. Sergeant Dareall Thompson says someone called told police that a bomb was inside of the store. Emergency crews responded and evacuated the building while they search for any suspicious packages. Thompson says nothing was found and business was back to normal. He says the person will be charged in this situation.
