MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - It was a special night Tuesday for organizers of the annual Allie Cat Run and Festival.

They revealed the event raised $77,000 this year. This is up from the already amazing $50,000 raised last year. The money goes toward the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency, Donate Life and a newly created Allie Carruth Scholarship that will be given to a senior in the area.

The run was held back in March in honor of Allie Carruth who lost her life in an accident two years ago.

This was the second Allie Cat Festival.
