Meridian Regional Airport hosts TSA PreCheck enrollment

MERIDIAN, Miss, (WTOK)- The TSA is bringing back its pre-check enrollment program. Pre check makes the flight check-in process easier by providing convenient options at airport security checkpoints.

"It’s good for five years. It cost eighty five dollars which is not much. If you even travel once a year it's probably worth it to avoid the hassle. Especially at a big airport where there's long security lines." said Tom Williams, president of the Meridian Airport Authority.

Pre-check enrollment is underway this week at Meridian Regional Airport. Passengers and frequent flyers may sign up for the enrollment.

"The requirements when you come to enroll is some proof of citizenship which is going to be a birth certificate or a passport. Then you'll need some type of ID, whether it military or driver's license and with that you'll be able to sign up."

Pre-check has many benefits.

"If you don't have pre-check you'll get in the normal security line. You have to take off your shoes, unload your bag, take out your liquids, take out your laptop computer and take off jackets. Pre-check eliminates most of that."

We talked to passengers about pre check.

"It was a very easy process. Simple, just a little bit of time, the hardest thing was putting my thumb down on the fingerprint deal." said Raymond Comar.

"it was very efficient, went along quickly, and it's wonderful.” said Kathleen Comar.

The temporary application center will be available until this Friday. Hours to sign up are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The application fee is $85 and is valid for 5 years.
