Candlelight vigil held for Meridian child

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Loved ones gathered Friday night in honor of Jaki Toole, the five-year-old boy reported missing from Meridian last week.

A candlelight vigil was held at Bonita Lakes in celebration of Toole. green and gold balloons were released as the family called for justice in the case. Toole was left in the care of Celeste Smith, who has been charged with capital murder and multiple counts of child neglect. Meridian authorities say DNA results are pending after Smith led officers to the body of a small child, in the basement of another person’s home, last week. Jaki’s aunt, Cotina Warren said the little boy is the light of their lives.

“He was a very sweet little boy. He brought so much joy to the family. You know he couldn’t walk and he couldn’t talk, but the love he gave the family is just unexplainable. We are just a family who wants to see justice done,” said Warren.

Warren also said Celeste Smith was someone everyone trusted and someone they considered family. She said they are all still in shock.
