MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- It was a special day for a couple who celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
93 year old Malcolm and 91 year old Evelyn Threatt have been married for 75 years. They fell in love in 1943 and got married the year after.
Malcolm said the reason they got married so soon is because he was afraid someone might beat him to it.
The Threatt’s have six children, 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Mr. Threatt said he's enjoyed the best part of his life with his wife. We asked the Threatt’s what kept them together for so long.
"I think we felt like when the judge who married us said until death due you part. We thought it's the way it's supposed to be," said Evelyn Threatt.
"What is most important in our lives is the fact we put God first. All the other thing fall into its proper place," Malcolm Threatt.
Mr. Threatt was the former mayor of Marion and also served in World War 2.
