7th Annual Meridian Mardi Gras

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- Downtown Meridian was filled with people wearing beads and a whole lot of purple and green as they celebrated Mardi Gras.

The 7th Annual Meridian Mardi Gras exceeded everyone's expectations. Over two thousand people participated in the festivities. The celebration featured a dog show, food vendors, bounce houses and live music by unfazed show & band.
"We've exceeded expectations. We had over two thousand people show up, local food vendors, crafts, musicians. It has exceeded everything we could have thought of," says the city of Meridian - community development, Craig Wilkes.

The main attraction at the festival was the Mardi Gras parade where participants threw items like beads and candy to the crowd.
