MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- In Lauderdale County, a car show came to town to raise money for a special cause.
At First Baptist Church of Collinsville, the rain didn't stop the town from raising money for special needs teachers at a local school. There was live music, a balloon artist, raffle prizes and much more.
Organizers of this event say teachers are spending their own money to buy special supplies for special kids. The co-founder of this fundraiser, Brandi Dial, says to help special needs children, you have to lend the teachers a helping hand.
"Our special needs teachers need all the support to help buy items for special needs kids," said Brandi Dail, cruise for autism co-founder.
“For special needs kids you need specialized equipment’s. Both of my children's are in the special needs class at West Lauderdale. We're trying to help the teachers, so they won't have to spend so much money," said Dawn Baker, special needs mother.
All proceeds are donated to local special needs classrooms.
