About 18,000 customers still without power in Central and East Mississippi

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- About 18,000 customers are still without power across Central and East Mississippi Friday morning following Thursday's severe storms.

Central Electric Power, which serves customers in Attala, Kemper, Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Rankin and Scott Counties, is reporting the highest number of outages.

Here's a breakdown of reported customer outages by company/cooperative as of 10:30 a.m. Friday:

CENTRAL ELECTRIC POWER: under 13,000

SOUTHERN PINE ELECTRIC: about 4,300

EMEPA: about 200

MISSISSIPPI POWER: about 300

Crews are working around-the-clock to restore power to storm-damaged areas. Please be patient and make sure you avoid downed lines.
