MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) A non-profit organization that raises awareness for Alzheimer's held a kickoff party for its annual fundraiser.
Alzheimer’s Mississippi kicked off the 2019 "Walk for Alz" at Cater’s Market Thursday evening in Meridian. Alzheimer’s Mississippi is a non-profit organization that provides care and support for Mississippians affected by the disease and other forms of dementia, while researching for a cure.
"The event is to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Mississippi and for those who are living with the disease and their caregivers. The disease not only affects the person with the disease but it affects the family unit as well. Both from time and money and other resources that impact the family," Alzheimer’s Mississippi Executive Director T.J. Harvey says.
Registration for the 2019 Walk for Alz will be on Saturday September 21 at Bonita Lakes beginning at 8:30 a.m.
