An Alabama police chief reacts to fallen officers

This latest shooting involving a police officer has law enforcement officers obviously concerned. We talked to a West Alabama police chief about what happened in Ozark.

Demopolis Police Chief Rex Flowers says line of duty deaths are difficult to handle because of the close brotherhood police officers share. Chief flowers says he warns his officers to stay vigilant when they're on duty and to always know what they're walking into when responding to a call. Flowers says these tragedies are now hitting close to home.

“I would like the communities in America to realize the sacrifices that law enforcement is making. They are leaving their homes unprotected, so to speak to protect other families. It’s something to realize,” says Demopolis Alabama Chief Rex E. Flowers.

Seven Alabama police officers have been killed in Alabama this year. According to the Officer Down Memorial Page- 118 line of duty deaths has been reported across the U.S. in 2019.
