BUTLER, Ala. (WTOK) - Tenants and members from the community were excited to welcome the newly renovated Bedford Pines Apartments.
"The apartments we live in now, it's more like home," resident Consonja Office says.
The multi-million dollar project was not only a plus for residents, but it provided a boost to the local economy. The project developed over 40 new units of affordable housing and over 60 jobs locally and regionally.
"It's a really good buy in for your dollar,” David Morrow, president of Morrow Realty Company says. “I think that it's good for us to show what's being done here so that people can realize that it's not just bricks and borders going up, its people that are getting jobs and it's also a great place for people to live as well."
Consonja Office is one of several long-time residents at this complex. She says the new additions have impacted her family and this city in more ways than one.
"When you walk in there, they're more like of home instead of just an ordinary apartment,” Office says. “The fixtures and the way they came in and redid everything. It's nice, it's real nice."
The president of Morrow Realty Company, Inc. expects the results of this project to impact the lives of people for years to come.
"I hope that what we've done here is big some little hope to the people here that things can always be better. And being here in the town of Butler we've been here such a long time and we want to continue to make it as good as we can and hopefully what we've done here has been a positive thing," Morrow says.
The project took around 9-months to complete.
