JACKSON, Miss. (WTOK) - The Mississippi Association of Educators announced Tuesday its endorsement of the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, state Rep. David Baria.
“We are so thrilled to support Representative Baria and his campaign,” said MAE president, Joyce Helmick. “His passion for the people of Mississippi and his work to make our lives better is reflected in his record and his service in the Mississippi House. He’s long been a friend of public education and public educators and we are so grateful for his leadership.
Baria said he's a product in of Mississippi’s public schools and is proud to stand with MAE in fighting for teachers and students.
“If we want to move Mississippi out of 50th place, stop the brain drain, and provide a bright future for our children we must make education a budget priority in Washington," said Baria.
Baria is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Wicker. Also on the ballot are Reform Party candidate Shawn O'Hara and Libertarian Danny Bedwell.
