Battle of the Bands this Saturday for a good cause
Ready to rock on for a good cause? A Battle of the Bands sponsored by Magnolia Beverage and Meridian Underground Music will be taking place at the Temple Theater on Saturday.
“The event starts at 12 noon and runs until 10 o’clock when we announce the winners of the prizes,” says Wayne Williams, the owner of MUM.
Tickets for the event are $15 at the door.
“Everybody should come out to the event tomorrow because the Care Lodge is going to be getting all of the proceeds from it,” Williams says. “[People are] going to come out, they’re going to experience bands from New Orleans, bands from Nashville, bands from Huntsville, Natchez, all over, and these bands are all rock and roll bands, and some metal bands.”
Care Lodge is a non-profit organization that helps victims of domestic violence have a safe place to go to for them and their children.
“I think Battle of the Bands is a wonderful way for people to self-express through their own style of music and to support a cause like Care Lodge,” says Sara Smith, the community coordinator at Care Lodge. “Ticket sales, the proceeds from that does come to Care Lodge which obviously supports the mission work that we do and is much needed.”
“Care Lodge is an organization that’s very near and dear to my heart, they’re doing their part to stamp out domestic violence and that’s something I can get behind 100%,” Williams says. “And this event hopefully will give them enough money that it’ll help them in that battle.”
This is the first year for the Battle of the Bands, but organizers hope this can become an annual event.
