JACKSON, Miss. (WTOK) - The Mississippi State Department of Health has lifted its Boil Water Alert issued June 12 for the town of Hickory.

Tests indicate the water is safe to drink.

The Boil Water Alert had been issued after sampling showed the presence of E. coli and Total Coliform bacteria.

When a Boil Water Notice is lifted, faucets should be flushed for a total of ten minutes to clear plumbing.

Example:
1 faucet - run for 10 minutes
2 faucets - run both for 5 minutes
3 faucets - run each for 3-4 minutes
