A boil water notice has been issued for some residents who get their water from the Sumter County Water Authority.

Customers around the system who have experienced or had a total loss of pressure and water are under that boil water notice. They are asked to boil any water they use until further notice, when the water pressure returns to normal.

Customers who currently or only experience low pressure and still have water flowing do not have to boil their water.

The extreme cold temperatures have also caused portions of the Sumter County Water to experience low pressure and outages in some areas.

Customers are asked to please turn their faucets off while temperatures are above freezing. This will allow the water system to recover.

Residents are also encouraged to check camp houses or other unoccupied structures for leaks.
